Why the watchlist exists
After feedback from subscribers, ApexVol added a watchlist. It is a personal view where specific stocks, indices and bonds can be added, along with individual option legs and contracts, and whole strategies can be built and tracked inside it. The video was recorded a little over 36 hours before the launch, which went live pre market on Thursday 28 May.
Tracking a straddle
The demo watchlist holds five tickers. Opening Apple shows a straddle already being tracked: the payoff diagram, the individual legs, the credit received and its change since entry, from 9.18 to 8.71, the net Greeks of the position and a miniature payoff chart.
Watching a single contract
Watching a contract starts in Apple's options chain. Pick an expiration, June 3 in the demo, click the star on the left hand side of the row and select the call. A target price can be set and a note added explaining why the contract is being watched. The view watchlist button then returns to the list with that contract sitting in it. Notes can be added at any time and they stay attached to the contract, so a running record builds up. Once several contracts are being watched they can be combined into a strategy, which is how the tracked straddle was created.
